A few nights back at the Steve Earle show at UCLA's Royce Hall, pure rock 'n roll justice was served. Y'see, some nimrod towards the front of the house shouted "FREEBIRD!!!" between songs during Steve Earle's spectacular all-acoustic set. I think the heckler actually yelled it twice, having been disregarded the first time. After the second cry of FREEBIRD!, Steve Earle simply stopped his guitar tuning, stepped to the mic, and bristled a very pointed: "FUCK YOU, I HATE THAT SONG" in the heckler's general direction. Naturally the crowd erupted with laughter and applause and Earle proceeded to rock through the rest of his nearly 3 hour set.
